Life insurance is an invaluable investment for anyone that is interested in the welfare of their family. People carry more debt in this day and age than ever before so it is really important to make sure that there is something left behind in the even of your death, so that your children and partner are not left destitute. With life insurance comes substantial peace of mind and there is a multitude of various policies out there that are designed to suit the multitude of different people out there. The two main types of insurance are term life insurance and permanent or whole life insurance.

Term life.

Term Life

When you have term life insurance it basically means that you are covered for a certain period of time. The same amount is generally paid during each instalment throughout the life of the policy. The term of such a policy can be as little as a year, but as long as three decades. Of term life insurance there are two types; level term and decreasing term. Most people prefer level term policies as they involve paying the same amount from year to year. With decreasing term it is a case of the death benefit being decreased from year to year. You can also get a renewable term life insurance policy which allows you to renew the policy once it has expired, even if you would not have usually qualified because of health problems.

Whole Life / Permanent

With whole life insurance a death benefit is paid and this is the case irrespective of whether you die one year subsequent to taking out the policy or fifty. The benefit is always the same and the payments are the same. There are options with some whole life policies to be able to do things like withdraw some of the cash after a certain amount of time. This can be really handy for instance if a person no longer has the financial obligations that he / she was protecting their family from at the time of taking out the policy.

Universal life insurance

This is a bit like whole life insurance but it gives you more options. An example is that you can increase the benefit amount and you can also withdraw funds from the policy. These are really good perks.

Variable life

There are similarities between this and universal life insurance. what you get with variable life policy is a savings account that earns you interest. It is also an option to invest the money that you have saved in stocks and shares, as well as other financial markets. Trying to get disability insurance for a physician at the end of his or her residency will be difficult. Any medical conditions that were obtained by the physician during the residency will make buying the insurance plan possible but not favorable. Premium payments will be higher and benefits may not be very beneficial.

One concern of medical residents for not taking advantage of better rates for insurance plans is their need to pay their outstanding student loans. As medical students, their student loans from medical school can exceed $100, 000. As physicians attempting to enroll for disability insurance, they may find that they may be not getting the best policy and rates than as medical students.

During medical residency, the hospital and residency program may offer group disability insurance plans. But these are limited because they stop when you stop working as a resident. The need to have your own policy suddenly arises and you reach a stumbling block trying to enroll for your own plan as a physician. Then, other regular payments pile up, including student loan payments and basic necessities and room for insurance is further adjusted. And if you receive an injury of any kind while working as a resident, your full potential may not be the same and can affect your income and put you in further debt.

Enrolling for disability insurance for physicians as a medical resident is the ideal solution to protect whatever future income you may have and being able to pay your student loans regularly. Purchasing an insurance plan earlier is also advantageous because you get a lower premium based on your age and health status alone. And because, as a medical student, you are still free from injuries, and you ' re in perfect health, you will be able to get the best policy and rate available for your profession.
